In heavily Republican Coweta County, pockets of Democrats made their voices heard in the Nov. 5 election.

President-elect Donald Trump won the election in Coweta County with 57,204 votes, or 66.5 percent of the votes cast in the race. However, 28,111 people cast votes for Democrat Kamala Harris, and she actually won three of Coweta County’s 24 precincts.

Newnan, Central and Westside precinct voters preferred Harris to Trump. Similarly, they preferred Democrat Maura Keller to Repub-lican candidate Brian Jack for the U.S. House of Representatives District 6 seat. The same three precincts preferred Democrat Jenny Enderlin to Republican incumbent Sen. Matt Brass for the Georgia State Senate District 6 seat.

While Republican incumbent State Rep. Lynn Smith won the election, she lost the popular vote in Central, Westside and the por-tion of voters she represents in the Newnan Centre precinct.

Coweta County voters also seemed to prefer Representative-elect Jack to President-elect Trump. Jack received 58,035 votes to Trump’s 57,204.
