2026 NAACP Juneteenth Parade and E.Y.O. Inc.'s Juneteenth Fair
Democratic Party Roundtable on Data Centers/Eminent Domain
On June 11, 2026, the Coweta County Democratic Party held an enlightening round table at the Coweta County Chamber of Commerce. In addition to our candidates, we also had special guests Mayor James Shepherd, Public Service Commissioner District 5, Peter Hubbard, Public Service Commissioner candidate Sheila Edwards and Patty Durand, founder of Georgians for Affordable Energy.
We invited concerned citizens from the community, including members of Citizens for Rural Coweta. They asked questions of our candidates and guests, and received answers, that they have not been able to ask the County Commissioners responsible for allowing the data centers. We had some lively discussions and good dialog on all sides. Our candidates will be receiving extensive educational instruction from Patty Durand as they continue to fight to represent the citizens of Coweta County.

Charity Toy Drive
December 1 - 15, 2025:
Our member and First Vice-Chair, Tom Thomason, once again hosted his annual Toy Drive. Tom, along with Reverand Myron Deas and the members of the Mt. Zion AME Church of Newnan, Coweta Democrats and Coweta Indivisible, raised over $2,000.00 in toys and money to purchase toys. All the proceeds provided toys and bicycles to the children of Arno-Sargeant Elementary School and Jefferson Parkway Elementary School. We are proud of Tom and his yearly toy drive which brightens the holiday for many of our community's kids!
Community Food Distrubution
November 10 and 21, 2025:
The Coweta County Democratic party was proud to hold two Community Food Distribution events in Newnan during November 2025. Members of our community were able to drive up and have bags of meat, vegetables, fruit, bread, eggs, milk and various other food items, delivered to their cars.
Our goal was to make a positive impact on the lives of those facing food insecurity.
Our partners in bringing together these food distribution events were the Georgia Favor House; Representative Lydia Glaize, Georgia House District 67; the Greater Mt. Zion AME Church of Newnan and Margie's House.
Thank you to all who donated with both food and money and those who helped with distribution.
City of Newnan's Independence Day Parade
July 4th, 2025:
CCDP participated in the Newnan Independence Day Parade by entering a float. Participants rode on the float, carried a banner and flags plus handed out candy to parade watchers. Everyone was decked out in BLUE, white and red. It was a great way to celebrate the 4th!
Food Drive for Coweta Samaritan Clinic
Coweta Dems held an impromtu food drive for the Coweta Samaritan Clinic after we saw their request to have their food closets replenished. We posted an event in our Facebook group and in a few days were were able to deliver approximately 25 grocery bags of canned and boxed food plus ladies deodorant. Pictured below is just a small amount of what we delivered. Thank you to all who contributed!
NAACP Juneteenth Parade and E.Y.O. Inc.'s Juneteenth Fair
June 21, 2025:
Coweta Dems celebrated Juneteenth 2025 by participating in the Coweta County NAACP's Annual Juneteenth Parade. Our truck decorations emphasized CCDP's Strategic Pillars. Parade walkers carried signs talking about these pillars while other Dems handed out candy to kids.
Following the parade, party members sponsored a booth in the E.Y.O Inc.'s Sixth Annual Juneteenth Fair. We handed out water and greeted booth visitors.

CCDP Youth Initiative Scholarship Program
June 7, 2025:
The Coweta County Democratic Party is excited to announce that we awarded two $500 scholarships to class of 2025 graduates from the CCDP's new Youth Initiative! This year's recipients are Madison Durden and Matthew Carr. Both recipients are graduates of East Coweta High School and are attending the University of Georgia beginning fall 2025. Madison plans to study international business with a concentration in investment banking and Matthew plans to major in history.
Scholarship applicants were asked to submit an essay about "What the United States Constitution and the Rule of Law Means to Me." The winners were chosen based on the quality of the essay and academic achievement.

In the future, we aspire to engage local youth in pursuit of higher education by awarding Coweta County School System graduating seniors with scholarships. If interested in this program, please send an email inquiry to admin@cowetadems.com or chair@cowetadems.com.
